RUN THE RACE OF YOUR LIFE WELL,
IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE PRIZE
GOD HAS WAITING FOR YOU!
(2 Timothy 4:7-8)
Friend, "THE ROAD TO ANYWHERE," starts where you are right now. What I mean by this statement, is that you can do what you want to do; go where you want to go, and have what you want to have.
In every way, the choice of getting the most out of life is really in your hands because the road to anywhere starts where you are right now!
PLEASE, Allow me to illustrate:
Wilma Rudolph knew about that road! She was born twentieth out of twenty-two children. Her father was a struggling handyman. At age four, Wilma was stricken with scarlet fever and double pneumonia. These illnesses paralyzed her left leg, which was subsequently fitted with a brace, but the prognosis was “she’ll never walk again!”
“I kept cheating,” Wilma said. “I’d sneak away, take the brace off and test the leg.” She was walking normally by the age of ten. She played basketball by age thirteen. At age sixteen, Wilma Rudolph ran with the U.S.A. Olympic relay team in Melbourne.
The rest is public knowledge. In the 1960 Olympics she was the first woman ever to win three gold medals. In the U.S.A. Wilma Rudolph won such awards as “Outstanding Athlete of the Year,” “Female Athlete of the Year,” and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Women’s Sports Foundation.
Friend, I hope you will never forget that the road to anywhere starts where you are right now! The Bible is full of such stories!
For instance, there is the story of Joseph, a boy who couldn’t be kept down. Joseph was favoured by his father, hated by his brothers and sold as a slave into Egypt. Where, through no fault of his own, he was thrown into prison for an “attempted rape” which he was completely innocent of. However, in spite of all his adversities, Joseph refused to give in to bitterness, self-pity and the “why me?” philosophy.
Instead, his persistence in goodness and his unwavering faith in God led him to be promoted to second in command in Egypt and the eventual rescue of his entire family from poverty. This set up the entire scenario for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amazingly, Joseph started that journey upward from the depths of prison.
Truly Friend, the road to anywhere starts where you are right now! You might be knocked down but you don’t have to stay down. And as I’ve said before, “Your past may explain you; but it doesn’t lock you in.”
So, as you consider what you have just read, where are you right now? Where do you want to be? It doesn’t matter where you’ve been or how many knocks life has given you. The road is there. The choice is yours. It leads where you want it to lead!
Friend, if you are experiencing difficulty in getting the most out of your life, perhaps it would help if you were to repeat with me the following words: “I am made in God’s image! I can choose my attitude! I choose to feel great!”
